Multi-car accident ends day early for Green

Dover, De. – A multi-car accident on lap three wrecked the day for eight drivers in the Dover 200 on Saturday, including Mark Green in the #23 Vassarette / BMAR Chevrolet.

Green, who started in 35th position, was caught up in the accident that began when Matt Kenseth got turned sideways coming out of turn for and started a chain reaction that led to a red flag while Nascar cleaned up the track.

“At Dover you’re either in it or out of it,” said Green. “Once the 17 spun out everyone started checking up and there was just no where for me to go. There is a reason they call this place the ‘Monster Mile.’”

The car was too badly damaged to return to the track and the team was forced to call it a day.

“It’s a shame because the Vassarette / BMAR Chevrolet was pretty good today,” said Green. “I would have liked to seen what we could have done in the race.”

At a track that is know for accidents, Green was one of 15 drivers that ended up out of the race. Only 10 drivers finished on the lead lap.

With an off week next up on the schedule, the team is planning to test at Lowe’s Motor Speedway before racing in Kansas on Oct. 8.
