Bloomington Speedway - Final modified & super stock points, Sept. 23 rainout

BLOOMINGTON SPEEDWAY

CRAMER & HARRIS

WIN FIRST CHAMPIONSHIPS

MODIFIED & SUPER STOCK NATIONALS

WASHED OUT

BLOOMINGTON, IN (SEPTEMBER 24, 2005) - Last week we honored Kevin Briscoe and the rest of the top drivers in the sprint car division. This week the O'Neal Wood Products/Monroe County Pizza Dept. drivers were to be honored before the racing began. Unfortunately, the weatherman had other ideas. Shortly after four o'clock the rains came. It wasn't a terrible rain; but it was just enough that we would be unable to get the track reworked within a reasonable time. With much regret Mike Miles pulled the plug. The last thing that he wanted was to concede another show to the weatherman; but there seemed to be nothing else to do.

We considered rescheduling the event; but, with all the special shows that are being run, it would be several weeks before we could come up with a new date. And, by then, the weather tends to be even more of a problem. We'll just have to let the weatherman prevail this time and hope that he cuts us some slack when we resume racing next season.

On a brighter note, the points leaders have been decided. These guys battled down to the last lap in every race this season. Those who finished at the top of the point standings certainly earned the hardware that they will collect. The top ten drivers in each class are as follows:

O'Neal Wood Products/Monroe County Pizza Dept. Modifieds -

a.. Jesse Cramer - Jesse ran every feature; and he won three of them. He had only one finish out of the top ten and only two out of the top five. That kind of consistency will win most championship. However, the competition was so close that he finished only 24 points ahead of Gary Barrow. Jesse finished second last season; and he was determined to take the championship this season.

b.. Gary Barrow - Gary won four features; and he also had only one finish out of the top ten. He was in the top five half of the time. Barrow moved up from fifthe last season to second this season.

c.. Shelby Miles - Shelby won three features this season. Miles finished out of the top ten three times and out of the top five only four times.

d.. Clint DeMoss - Clint ran a consistent season. He ran every Friday night; and he finished out of the top ten only three times.

e.. Ray Humphrey - Ray ran with us on a pretty regular basis this season; and, as always, when he ran with us, he was hard to beat. He wound up with four top five finishes.

f.. J.P. Hume - J.P. missed only two features all season; and he had seven top ten finishes. In addition to his sixth place finish, Hume was our Steve Kinser Most Improved Driver in the O'Neal Wood Products/Monroe County Pizza Dept modified division.

g.. Greg Deckard - Greg's seventh place finish was his best ever on the red clay of Bloomington Speedway. He too missed only two features; and he had two top ten finishes.

h.. Matt Boknecht - Matt is a two time O'Neal Wood Products/Monroe County Pizza Dept. champion. He missed a few shows this season; but when he was here he came to race. He had two feature wins and eight top five finishes.

i.. Ralph Groomer - Ralph just completed his second season in the modified division. He finished the season with six top ten finishes.

j.. Rodney Harris, Jr. - In addition to his tenth place finish in the points, Rodney had four top ten finishes.

Josh Eads - In addition to his ninth place finish in the points, Josh was named the Jeff Gordon Rookie of the Year for the modified division.

11. Josh Eads, 12. Lee Hobbs, 13. Ron Fedor, 14. Joe Gilbert, 15. John DeMoss, 16. Jeff Bland, Jr., 17. Wendell Wisley, 18. Michael Sterrett, 19. Ryan Lawrence, 20. Jack Taylor, 21. Jason Sims, 22. Brad Brown, 23. Jerry Crane, 24. Ryan Thomas, 25. Chad Combs

Tire & Wheel Center Super Stocks -

1.. Danny Harris - Danny made every feature; and he won three of them. He had nine top five finishes; and he was in the top five every week since July 8. Even though he had consistently good performance, he beat Ben DuBois for the championship by only twenty-four points.

b.. Ben DuBois - Ben won the Tire & Wheel Center Super Stock championship. In addition to his second place finish this season, Ben finished out of the top five only four times.

c.. Jeremy Hines - Jeremy raced with us every week; and he had one feature win and seven top five finishes.

d.. Chris Hillman - Chris made every feature; and he won two of them. He also had seven top five finishes. Chris was only 44 points behind champion Harris.

e.. Kent Robinson - Kent made every feature this season. He finished in the top ten ten times. Robinson came from a 14th place finish last season to a fifth place finish this season. That performance made him the Steve Kinser Most Improved Driver.

f.. Kevin Arthur - Kevin missed only one feature; and he had seven top ten finishes. He is very likely to find victory lane next season.

g.. Greg Amick - Greg also made every feature. He also had five ten fInishes.

h.. Terry Arthur - Terry missed only two features; and he had five top ten finishes.

i.. Travis Todd - Travis missed only one feature; and he scored three top ten finishes.

j.. Randy Howe - Randy missed three features late in the season. Had he made those features, his finish in the point standings would have been much better.

Travis Howe and Derek Groomer finished 16th and 17th in the standings respectively; because they were so closely matched we decided to name them Co-Jeff Gordon Rookies of the Year.

11. Troy Clark, 12. Winston Howe, 13. Mike Jones, 14. Steve Hollars, 15. Anthony Walker, 16. Travis Howe, 17. Derek Groomer, 18. David Lawson, 19. Tom Ault, 20. Gary Trammell, 21. Josh Burton, 22. Bill Brown, 23. Gerald Todd, 24. Chris Deweese, 25. Steve Bowlen

Bloomington Speedway has some of the best fans and competitors anywhere. We thank them for them for their continued support; and we look forward to welcoming them back next April.
