Infineon Technologies Cougar Mountain Classic Featured on
FSN Bay Area in October
One-Hour Show Debuts Saturday, October 1st at 2 PM
SONOMA, Calif. (IMMEDIATE RELEASE) - Cycling fans will have another
opportunity to see their sport on television, on Oct. 1, 3 and 30, when
FSN Bay Area features a one-hour broadcast on the Infineon Technologies
Cougar Mountain Classic at Infineon Raceway.
The event, which took place Sept. 9-11 in the Sonoma Valley, featured
the best in a variety of cycling disciplines, including: mountain bike
downhill, mountain bike cross country, road circuit racing, mountain
cross, 8-hour endurance racing and more. The three-day event also
boasted a 15K run that incorporated the world-famous NASCAR road course.
The one-hour show will premiere on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 2 p.m. It will
have two additional airings - Oct. 3, 2 p.m. and Oct. 30, noon (all
times PDT). The broadcast will feature color analysts Trent Klasna and
Marla Streb. Klasna made history in 2001 by winning the National Time
Trials Championships, Redlands Bicycle Classic and Sea Otter Classic all
in the same year, while Streb, a member of the LunaChix MTB Team, is a
two-time national downhill champion, and finished third in the 2000
World Championships.
The broadcast will showcase highlights from each event, including the
mountain bike downhill, which marked the debut of Cougar Mountain, and
the pro road circuit races.
Cougar Mountain sits nearly 400 feet above the raceway and offers
panoramic views of the San Francisco skyline and Golden Gate Bridge.
Riders raved of the circuit's rolling terrain, challenging jumps - both
natural and man-made - and G-force turns. Moreover, nearly 100-percent
of the course can be seen from the base of the mountain, providing a
spectacular view for spectators.
"This is incredible because you can see the whole course. That is
unprecedented," Streb said. "On top of that, it is pretty difficult;
it's the kind of course that really sneaks up on you. It has a lot of
potential to be a world-class course."
The FSN Bay Area special will also feature a unique piece on the
founding fathers of mountain bike racing, including Charlie Kelly, Alan
Bond, Gary Fisher and Tom Ritchey. Kelly, Bond and Fisher are all
residents of Marin County. For more information on the Cougar Mountain
