AIAG Board Announces Two New Members

DETROIT, Sept. 21 -- The board of directors of the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) announced today the appointments of Thomas Koenig from TRW Automotive and John S. Sofia from American Axle & Manufacturing, Inc. to serve on the association's board.

AIAG's board of directors represents a cross section of member companies from automakers, truck manufacturers, suppliers and solution providers. The board provides strategic direction and oversees AIAG's collaborative efforts to enhance the global automotive supply chain, including initiatives in automatic identification, collaborative engineering and product development, e-commerce, electronic data interchange, early warning standards, finance, materials management, occupational health and safety, regulatory issues, returnable containers, telecommunications, and truck and heavy equipment.

Koenig is vice president, global health, safety, environment and security for TRW Automotive, with a background in environmental and integrated management systems, training and communication, product safety and energy services. He is responsible for the leadership, service and governance of all health, safety and environmental issues within TRW's facilities worldwide.

Sofia, vice president of quality assurance and customer satisfaction for American Axle & Manufacturing, has more than 20 years of experience in automotive manufacturing, engineering and quality. In his current position, he is responsible for the company's global quality and customer satisfaction.
