CLEVELAND, Sept. 21 -- The Lorain County Manufacturing Council (LCMC) announced today that Ohio Lieutenant Governor Bruce Johnson will give the opening remarks at the Nanotechnology Manufacturers' Forum, Thursday, October 20 in Elyria, Ohio. The Forum will help manufacturers understand how nanotechnology can improve their products, generate new market opportunities, and strengthen our economy.

The Nanotechnology Manufacturers' Forum is one in a series of events scheduled for NANO Week, a five-day nanotechnology program being held in Cleveland and Northeast Ohio. The LCMC forum will take place at the Spitzer Conference Center on the campus of Lorain County Community College, 1005 North Abbe Road, Elyria, Ohio.

Mr. Johnson will discuss the importance of using cutting edge technology to drive innovation, to create and improve existing products to bolster the region's economy. Mr. Johnson has been an advocate of expanding Ohio's manufacturing sector.

"Ohio's economy is dependent on applying our technological research strengths to our industrial strengths to create the jobs of tomorrow," said Johnson. "Nanotechnology is having a dramatic impact on how we create, develop, and manufacture products here in Ohio and abroad, and is an area we must aggressively pursue."

"We are pleased Lt. Gov. Bruce Johnson will be part of the forum and share his thoughts about nanotechnology. Mr. Johnson's participation in the event reinforces our commitment to technology-based economic development in the region," said John Butkowski, president of the LCMC.
