3 TITLE HOPEFULS EYE SILVER CROWN FINALE IN "SILVER
ANNIVERSARY" 4-CROWN" AT ELDORA
SEPTEMBER 19, 2005
It's down to three possible champions who are chasing the 2005
USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown Championship, which will be decided this
weekend in the Silver Anniversary "4-Crown Nationals" at Tony Stewart's
Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.
Defending champion Dave Steele of Tampa, Fla. has led the
standings all season and has a 31-point cushion over Josh Wise of
Riverside, Calif., with Brian Tyler of Parma, Mich. 39 back. A victory at
Eldora is worth 60 and Steele, who drives for car owners Stewart and Bob
East, can lock up the title with a ninth-place finish.
A 50-lap Silver Crown feature concludes Saturday night's
action, while preliminaries are slated for Friday night at the 1/2-mile
dirt oval. Semi-features and feature events are set for Saturday night and
the Silver Crown cars share the billing at the "4-Crown Nationals" with the
Valvoline USAC National Sprint Cars, USAC National Midgets and Modifieds.
Dave Darland won last year's "4-Crown Nationals' Silver Crown
feature at Eldora.
