CAW Says DCX Strike Now Less Likely
TORONTO, Sept 19, 2005; Reuters reported that the Canadian Auto Workers union said on Monday it has become more optimistic about labor talks with DaimlerChrysler Canada and that the likelihood of a strike at midnight on Tuesday has been reduced substantially. The union said the automaker is no longer demanding that a casting plant in Etobicoke, Ontario, be closed. It said it has also had a good dialogue with DaimlerChrysler on the future of its plants in Brampton, Ontario, and Windsor, Ontario.
