GE Fleet Services Will Report Flooded Vehicles to Carfax; Fleet Cars Damaged in Gulf States Will Be Identified in Carfax Vehicle History Reports

FAIRFAX, Va.--Sept. 16, 2005--Carfax today announced GE Fleet Services will be helping the company identify vehicles destroyed by floodwaters following Hurricane Katrina. GE Fleet Services will provide a list of vehicle identification numbers (VINs) for GE managed fleet vehicles damaged in storm-ravaged areas of the Gulf States.

"Our primary concern is making our clients and wholesale buyers aware of any car that may have been damaged by this terrible disaster," said Paul Seger, vice president of asset remarketing for GE Commercial Finance, Fleet Services. "Providing this information to Carfax is a surefire way for us to help them easily identify these vehicles."

GE's efforts to differentiate vehicles damaged by the storm may also help to ensure those not damaged retain their value. Used car buyers and sellers will have access to information on flooded GE fleet cars through Carfax Vehicle History Reports.

"This information from GE is an important part of our ongoing efforts to help dealers and consumers buy and sell used cars," said John Hecklinger, director of data acquisition at Carfax. "Our mission is to make sure anyone buying a used car from the affected areas does not unknowingly purchase a previously flood damaged vehicle."
