Mohnton, Pa. (September 15, 2005) –

Cruz Pedregon, driver of the Advance Auto Parts team, heads to Reading this
weekend to compete in the 21st annual NHRA Nationals. The 1992 Funny Car
champion and his Advance Auto Parts Nitro Funny Car are looking forward the
19th race of the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series schedule at Maple Grove
Raceway.

Nationals. El campeón de Funny Car del 1992 y su auto Advance Auto Parts

Pedregon won in the Eastern Pennsylvania track in 1992, was the runner-up in
1994 and 2004, and obtained a No.1 qualifier in 1995. With fall temperatures
quickly settling in this time of year, the Advance Auto Parts team gets
ready for the last race on the East coast.

“Maple Grove is at sea level and it can be an extremely fast track under the
right (weather) conditions,” Pedregon explained. “But also, I know from
experience that the top end can be a little bumpy so you have to be ready to
let the car cruise when you get there. Beyond that, we want to have four
good runs during qualifying, gather some data and be ready for Sunday¹s
eliminations.

“The fans in this area are really hard core and come up in big numbers. I am
really looking forward putting in a good show for the fans and my sponsors.”

“El circuito de Maple Grove se encuentra a nivel del mar y puede ser
extremadamente rápido cuando las condiciones climáticas son las adecuadas”,
explicó Pedregon. “Pero también sé por experiencia, que al final de la pista
hay varios baches y hay que decelerar el auto un poco. Por lo demás, lo que
queremos es cuatro buenos recorridos durante las clasificatorias, obtener
información y estar listos para las eliminatorias del domingo.

“Los aficionados en este área son muy auténticos y hay mucha participación.
Quiero correr muy bien y ofrecer un buen espéctaculo a mis aficionados y a
mis patrocinadores.”

Pedregon talks about the new set up of the Advance Auto Parts team under the
direction of crew chief Ron Douglas.

“I am excited and confident about the modifications we’ve made to the team
putting Ron (Douglas) in charge. We have changed things for the better, we
have a good car and a solid crew in place. The results I expect are to
improve our performance and be more consistent. The focus, to get momentum
and keep it going.”

Pedregon nos habla sobre la nueva situación del equipo de Advance Auto Parts

“Estoy ilusionado y confío en las modificaciones que hemos efctuado al
equipo poniendo a Ron (Douglas) a la cabeza. Hemos mejorado las cosas y

conseguir un buen ritmo y mantenerlo.”

So far this season, Pedregon has made it to the semifinals at Pomona, scored
a runner up at Houston Raceway Park and reached the semi’s during the next
four races. Following a number one qualifier in Englishtown N.J. and a
quarterfinal finish in Madison, Ill., Pedregon heads to Maple Grove Raceway
eighth in NHRA Nitro Funny Car points with 873.
