Scott Speed to Pilot 'We the People' Car for A1 Team USA in 2005-2006 David Price Racing Team Joins A1 Team USA

WASHINGTON, Sept. 15 -- A1 Team USA owner and CEO, Rick Weidinger announced today A1 Team USA's driver for the inaugural season kicking off at Brands Hatch, Great Britain, on Sept 25.

"Scott Speed represents the best for the United States and I think that he clearly meets our obligation to utilize the very best talent that America can offer in order to win the World Cup of Motorsport," said Weidinger. "I believe that A1 Team USA has the best chance for success in A1 Grand Prix because of Scott Speed and our race team."

Speed recently led a successful test run with A1 Team USA at Paul Ricard in Le Castellet, France with the fastest lap time at the test. All eyes will be on Speed to see what he can accomplish at Brands Hatch next week.

"It is a tremendous honor to be called onboard by Rick to lead A1 Team USA into Brands Hatch," said Speed. "I am very excited to carry the American flag into competition and will do my best to represent the U.S."

The second point of difference in A1 racing will be evident in its race team. With the involvement of David Price, A1 Team USA's race team will be supported and directed by one of the best in motorsports.

"A1 Team USA is focused so much on the driver and its race team, that it is an honor to be chosen to serve as part of this team for USA," said David Price. "I certainly will use my experience in the last 25 plus years to give Team USA the edge."

A1 Team USA's competition car, named "We the People" recognizes the global makeup of the country and the global aspect of this race series. Its logo is painted in 37 languages across the body of the car. Red and white ripped stripes are streaked from the wing with blue stars sprinkled down to the nose of the car.

A1 Grand Prix provides national teams and their drivers the opportunity to compete globally on a level playing field with open wheeled race cars that have identical specifications and engines. For the first time in racing history, A1 Grand Prix puts driver against driver and nation against nation. A1 Grand Prix will bring together up to 25 nations representing 80 per cent of the world's population. It is the skill of the drivers and their crews that will determine who wins the race.

The global series will take place across six continents -- North and South America, Europe, Africa, Australia and Asia -- and will be televised around the world so fans in both established and emerging markets can experience the thrill of this historic international race series.
