Sekisui Chemical to Introduce High Performance Noise Insulation Foaming Material for Use in Automobiles Next Spring
Tokyo Sept 14, 2005; Aki Tsukioka writing for JCN reported that High Performance Plastics Company, a Sekisui Chemical in-house unit, has developed MUTELAYER ML, a high performance noise insulation foaming material that features excellent sound insulating capability, lightness in weight, and ease of molding.
Made of cross-linked polyolefin foam mixed with a special packing material, the new product boasts approximately four times the noise barrier performance of conventional cross-linked polyolefin-made materials, and is about 45% lighter than sound insulating rubber sheets while delivering the same level of performance.
Ease of forming allows for wider applications on the spots where conventional insulation products have been unable to reach.
The company will launch sales in April 2006, aiming for sales of 2 billion yen ($18 mil) in fiscal 2007.
