DaimlerChrysler Statement Regarding Collective Bargaining With the CAW
TORONTO, Sept. 14 The Auto Channel reported that Mark Gendregske, DaimlerChrysler Canada Vice President of Human Resources said, "DaimlerChrysler Canada's bargaining team is continuing its negotiations with the CAW. We have a productive relationship with the CAW and their Chrysler bargaining team and, although much hard work needs to be done, we are optimistic we can find common ground."
The company's current collective agreement will expire at 11:59 p.m. EDT, Tuesday, September 20. DaimlerChrysler Canada has more than 10,600 represented workers at its various Canadian facilities, primarily in Brampton, Etobicoke and Windsor, Ontario.
COMMITMENT TO CANADA
* DaimlerChrysler has invested more than $2.6 billion (Cdn.) in Canada since the last contract agreement in 2002.
* Since the last contract agreement in 2002, DaimlerChrysler has invested heavily in the products it manufactures in Canada resulting in increased consumer demand, and thus requiring its Brampton and Windsor plants to operate three shifts.
* DaimlerChrysler created approximately 1,000 new CAW jobs in Brampton in 2005.

Plant History: Facility was built in 1986 and acquired by Chrysler Corporation with purchase of American Motors Corporation in August 1987. Production of LH (cab forward) vehicles began in June 1992. Production of new Chrysler Concorde and Dodge Intrepid began in September 1997, and Chrysler LHS and 300M in April 1998. Production of rear-wheel drive vehicles started at the beginning of 2004 with the launch of Chrysler 300 and the Dodge Magnum. Production of the Dodge Charger was launched in early 2005.

The 2005 Chrysler and Dodge minivans with the Stow 'n Go(TM) Seating and Storage System launched production in January 12, 2004.
