Mazak Touch the Future 2006: North America's Largest Private Demonstration of Advanced-Technology Machine Tools

FLORENCE, Ky., Sept. 13 -- With parent company Yamazaki Mazak named this year as the world's largest machine-tool builder, Mazak Corp. (Florence, KY) is hosting its largest-ever North American manufacturing industry event November 8-10 at its Florence headquarters and plant. Touch the Future 2006 will demonstrate the company's depth of advanced technology equipment for increased production efficiencies across a broad spectrum of manufacturing, including automotive, aerospace, heavy equipment, die/mold, medical, electronics, and general contract machining.

"Many manufacturing indicators are up across the industry, including machine tool sales, but pressures to reduce costs and speed up deliveries remain continuous," says Brian Papke, president, Mazak Corp. "Companies aren't simply demanding more capacity, they're demanding the leanest, most flexible means of production to create a competitive advantage. This event shows they've found a strong partner in Mazak."

Touch the Future 2006 also unveils Mazak's newly expanded National Technology Center, featuring the Center for Multi-Tasking and Manufacturing Excellence. The expansion takes the National Technology Center from its original 33,000 square feet to a massive 69,000 square feet and includes greatly expanded floor space for Mazak customers to engineer and prove out production increases using the latest breakthroughs in Mazak equipment. Also new to the NTC expansion is the 200-seat Mazak Theater and new classroom and seminar space comprising Mazak's Center for Multi-Tasking and Manufacturing Excellence.

"As manufacturers ourselves, Mazak has always been strongly committed to advancing our own manufacturing worldwide, yet this takes more than machine tools alone," says Papke. "Manufacturers need applications engineering, space for proving out unique production processes, and continuing training opportunities. The expanded National Technology Center and the Center for Multi-Tasking and Manufacturing Excellence will confirm that significant productivity increases are still possible for North American manufacturing."

During Touch the Future 2006, industry experts will lead seminars on such topics as manufacturing survival, cost-competitive lean solutions, advances in cutting tools and fixtures, and many more. The event also features 40 separate Mazak machine tools and production technologies under power, making it the largest private manufacturing technology event in North America. Highlights include the industry's widest range of multi-tasking machine tools, including nine differently configured Mazak Integrex machines, the most widely used integrated multi-tasking machine tool in the world.
