SPEED Channel Renews Red-Hot PINKS for Second Season; Wednesday Night Hit Has Racers Lined up to Participate in 'Lose Your Race, Lose Your Ride' Format

CHARLOTTE, N.C.--Sept. 13, 2005--SPEED Channel will renew its Wednesday night hit PINKS for another season, scheduling the first new episode for February 2006 and bringing back host Rich Christensen for another season of high-stakes drag racing.

"Due to the overwhelmingly positive response from the SPEED Channel audience, we have decided to fast-track a second season of PINKS," said Robert Ecker, VP of Programming for the network. "The series has clearly struck a chord with the viewing public, and we are eager to provide additional first-run episodes of the best shows we can possibly produce."

Using the setting of a classic 1950s drag race, PINKS pits contestants in a best three-out-of-five format, with the loser handing over the title (pink slip) to his or her vehicle. The rules are simple: two vehicles show up and drivers negotiate any head-start distance (car lengths); cars line up, Christensen drops his arms and the first one down the quarter mile wins. After each round, the drivers have the opportunity to re-negotiate lengths. All events are run on approved tracks with safety personnel present.

"We're going to blow the fans away in season two," Christensen said. "We've got more than 200 applicants interested in putting their pink slips on the line. We've got Corvettes, a Ferrari, a Porsche - season two will be loaded with incredible cars putting it all on the line."

PINKS will add technical advisors in 2006, hiring PINKS racers Nathan Pritchett of Shocker Motorsports in Maryland and Charles Hendrickson of Pro Dyno High Performance in Arizona to assist with race logistics and driver negotiations.

PINKS currently airs Wednesday nights at 8:30 p.m. ET and PT.
