MIDWEST FOCUS REGULARS NOT RESTING AS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP APPROACHES; LIGHT WINS KENTUCKY

INDIANAPOLIS – A two-week hiatus in the USAC Midwest Ford Focus Midget Car
Series is not a break for most series participants.

Following Jimmy Light’s 20-lap victory Saturday on the Kentucky Speedway
quarter-mile, a total of 17 drivers who compete regularly in the Midwest
region will continue their racing endeavors close to home in this weekend’s
Ford Focus National Championships.

Races Saturday at Limaland Motorsports Park in Ohio and Sunday at Anderson
(Ind.) Speedway comprise of the two-race championship, tracks both of which
have held races for the Midwest series this season.

Light will be one of the favorites heading into the weekend, having won the
last Midwest event. The West Springfield, Pa. native led the final four laps
in the John Givens owned Horsepower Inc. Beast, passing Zach Gibson on Lap
17. Gibson inherited the lead after a three-car tangle which involved leader
Stephanie Mockler.

Trailing Light at the line were Gibson, Jamie Williams, Kyle Robbins and
series point leader Tate Martz. Only two races remain for Midwest
competitors following the National Championship races this weekend. Martz’s
lead ballooned to 146 points over Mockler.
