Sloan takes point lead

Sloan takes points lead-September 10, 2005

After weeks of chipping away at Robin Bourgeois's point lead, Jimmy Sloan,
24, Palm Desert, Calif. took over the top spot in the points standings at
Irwindale Speedway Saturday night.

Sloan started the race four points behind Bourgeois and was able to finish
five positions ahead of him, giving Sloan a six point lead.

"I am so proud of my crew," Sloan said. "We have worked so hard for this
and I know this means a lot to all of us. It was really tough to
chase Robin down and I'm sure he will continue to give us a run for
our money."

Sloan and his crew battled a rough car all day breaking in a new engine.

Sloan's qualifying effort put him in eighth at the start of the race. He
was able to finish third by the end of the forty laps.

"Congrats to Jimmy for taking over the points lead," said Terri McMichael,
wife of Sloan's crew chief Tom McMichael, "He didn't qualify that great,
but he did what he had to do come race time. Thanks to all drivers for an
excellent race."

This is Sloan's second season racing the Scott Ruder Mortgage Lending Super
Stock.

Sloan will compete in the two remaining super stock races at Irwindale this
season including a double points race at the end of the season. The next
race is September 24, 2005.
