CRA SPRINTS RETURN TO PERRIS SATURDAY KRUSEMAN WINS AT VENTURA; WILLIAMS BACK IN POINT LEAD


SEPTEMBER 12, 2005

             The Valvoline USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series returns this Saturday 
to the Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway and the series point race continues to 
be tight.

             Defending series titlist Rip Williams of Yorba Linda, Calif. 
vaulted back into the point lead Saturday night, finishing fourth behind 
race winner Cory Kruseman at the Ventura (Calif.) Raceway. Williams has an 
11-point lead over Damion Gardner, who finished eighth at Ventura, going 
into the Phoenix race.

             Kruseman piloted Glenn Crossno's ITI Performance/Sander 
Engineering Bullet/Downing to victory at Ventura, leading the final 27 laps 
after passing Rodney Argo on lap four. Charles Davis Jr., Rickie Gaunt, 
Williams and Steve Ostling rounded out the "top-five" at the checkered flag.

             Mike Kirby, the fastest Ventura qualifier, ranks third in the 
new standings.
