Rogers Corp. and IEE S.A. Luxembourg Announce Commercial Agreement on EL/FSR(TM) Products
CHANDLER, Ariz.--Sept. 8, 2005--Rogers Corporation has entered into an agreement with IEE S.A. for the development and worldwide sales of electroluminescent force sensitive resistor ("EL/FSR(TM)") switch products. Rogers has exclusive sales, marketing and distribution rights in North America, and IEE has exclusive sales, marketing and distribution rights in Europe; other areas are non-exclusive for both companies. The Rogers-IEE EL/FSR(TM) illuminated products will be used in a number of different automotive applications, such as radios, HVAC controllers and other center stack and overhead buttons and window lift and mirror switches. The products will also be used in many consumer electronics products, including keypads for cellphones, PDAs, GPS systems, etc.Jurgen Beilfuss, general manager IEE S.A., states: "The Rogers-IEE EL/FSR(TM) product line will provide additional functionality over competing switches and technologies. Due to the proportional activation of the EL/FSR(TM) products, a single input device can accomplish several different functions that are easily activated based on the amount of force applied. As a result, Rogers-IEE EL/FSR(TM) products will reduce space requirements, moving components and costs over traditional switches. Rogers-IEE EL/FSR(TM) products will also provide engineers and designers with new and innovative opportunities for design by integrating several functions into one part that can be shaped to fit many different types of applications."
Mike Bessette, vice president of the Durel Division of Rogers, had this to say about the agreement: "The alliance represents a powerful collaboration, combining IEE's expertise in sensor-based technologies with Rogers' advanced skills in electroluminescent lighting systems, to create thin profile, illuminated sensor switches and other EL/FSR(TM) products. By teaming with IEE, we're dramatically expanding the possibilities for our EL product line. Working together, IEE and Rogers will bring innovative new products to the market. We are very excited about the unique possibilities this relationship brings."
Rogers-IEE EL/FSR(TM) products will be displayed at the upcoming International Motor Show - IAA (Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung) taking place in Frankfurt, Germany, September 13-25. Visit the IEE S.A. booth in Hall H4.1 / Booth E30 for working demonstrations of the products.
