InvisaGuard LLC Introduces High-Security Auto Glass to Aftermarket

DETROIT, Sept. 7 -- The launch of the InvisaGuard High Security Glass(TM) (HSG) this fall will help protect valuables consumers keep in their vehicles that criminals aim to steal.

InvisaGuard LLC is a privately held Michigan corporation that was established in 2003 in Detroit to market a broad range of security products to protect the property of businesses and individuals. The latest offering is InvisaGuard HSG, a high-security laminated-glass product initially marketed toward owners of upscale and luxury SUVs and trucks in the metro-Detroit area. The InvisaGuard HSG(TM) system consists of four specially-produced side windows featuring DuPont(TM) SentryGlas(R) Plus, an intrusion-resistant interlayer that provides five times the tear strength and 100 times the rigidity of conventional automotive laminated glass with PVB. The security interlayer helps to resist attack with a break-in weapon, such as a baseball bat, to help delay a potential thief from gaining access to the vehicle's interior.

"Today's luxury SUVs and upscale trucks are not only very expensive to buy but are also frequently equipped with numerous high-ticket options and accessories that catch the eye of would-be thieves looking to make a quick buck," said Glenn Stafford, president of InvisaGuard LLC. "We're here to help vehicle owners further protect their vehicles and belongings from being stolen."

The most significant benefit to the auto industry is security. With more than one million vehicles stolen in the United States last year -- and more than half of the break-ins occurring through side glass -- consumers are very aware of the need to make auto glass more intrusion-resistant.

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, thieves target the Cadillac Escalade and other SUVs at a higher rate than any other vehicles in North America. Owners of these SUVs often order or add high-value stereo components, DVD entertainment systems and custom wheels and tires that can raise the price of the standard $50,000-plus vehicles by another $10,000 to $30,000. These "smash and grab" and vehicle thefts not only raise insurance premiums, but also can inconvenience owners by putting a vehicle out of commission until it is fixed or replaced -- a process that can sometimes take weeks.

PPG Industries manufactures InvisaGuard HSG. PPG Auto Glass is responsible for warehousing and distribution of the glass at the consumer level. Henderson Glass, an approved installer, will handle installations for Michigan consumers.

"With the product knowledge and technical expertise of DuPont Automotive and PPG, consumers know their valuables are protected by the most innovative product available," said Eric Holliday, executive vice president, InvisaGuard LLC. "What we are able to offer is peace of mind."

InvisaGuard HSG is now available for Michigan consumers at all Henderson Glass locations. Currently, InvisaGuard HSG is available for aftermarket installation on the Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Yukon. InvisaGuard HSG is priced affordably at $1,995 for a set of four side windows and can be ordered via phone 1-866-863-1750 or by visiting http://www.invisaguard.com/ .
