CALIFORNIA PAVEMENT FOCUS DIVISION RETURNS SUNDAY; HARRIS, SASSELLI CLAIM
WEEKEND DIRT WINS


INDIANAPOLIS – Californians Alex Harris of Simi Valley and Chase Barber of
Morgan Hill continue their season-long battle for California Ford Focus
Midget Car Series titles Sunday at Stockton 99 Speedway in Stockton, Calif.

Harris is the Pavement Series leader, up 14 points over Dirt Series leader
Barber and 46 over fifth-place runner Benny Moon. The Stockton weekend also
features the USAC Western Sprint and Midget Car Series divisions.

Barber’s lead on the dirt took a hit over the weekend as Harris and Audra
Sasselli claimed victories heading into the homestretch of the season.
Sasselli went flag-to-flag in Friday’s 25-lapper at Watsonville (Calif.)
Speedway in her No. 17 machine. Trailing her at the finish were Harris,
Keith Janca, Brett Engstrom and Cameron Veach. Barber flipped during the
evening and finished 11th in the feature.

The win for Sasselli was her fourth career, making her the all-time
winningest female driver in USAC feature history.

Harris closed again on Saturday at Petaluma (Calif.) Speedway, taking his
No. 54 Quality Communities/West Valley Grinding TCR/Ford Focus to Victory
Lane after taking control of the event on Lap 3 from Janca. Chris Veach,
Janca, Cal Smith and Robbie Whitchurch rounded out the Top 5.

Barber finished seventh Saturday, and his lead dwindled to 37 points heading
into the final race of the season Oct. 1 at Ventura (Calif.) Raceway.
