Honda develops advanced safety car, motorcycle

TOKYO September 3, 2005; Honda Motor Co unveiled Friday an advanced safety vehicle and a motorcycle equipped with devices for exchanging positional information with other vehicles and motorcycles while being driven.

The Honda ASV-3 research vehicle features some next-generation safety technologies, such as a system using cameras and radar to provide drivers with information on approaching cars and obstacles in the road, and a system that offers driver support through steering and braking assist. The motorcycle is also equipped with an advanced device enabling the driver to exchange information with other vehicles and motorcycles such as position, direction and speed.
