Pedregon Sits in 15th Heading Into Final Day
CLERMONT, Ind. (Sept. 3, 2005) Tony Pedregon and the Q Racing Nitro Funny
Car brought an entire new car to qualify during tonightıs U.S. Nationals at
Indianapolis Raceway Park.
With the second-round starting line incident in the rearview mirror,
Pedregonıs team, led by crew chief Dickie Venables, brought out a new
chassis and body and completed a pass in the third session. They were able
to completely rebuild a car after discarding the damage created from the
round before.
Pedregon currently sits in the 15th-qualifying position, with two sessions
remaining.
³I was really concerned about my crew chief Dickie (Venables) after the
incident,² Pedregon said. ³And Iım real happy that Cody Pendergrass is in
good shape as well. They both worked on the car in preparing for this
qualifying run. Weıre really fortunate it turned out the way it did because
it could have been much worse.
³It says a lot about this team and the type of depth we have at Q Racing,²
Pedregon added. ³Iım a little disappointed we didnıt get it down the track
on that last run, but itıs a new chassis and we had never run it before.
There are a lot of adjustments we have to make before we head into the Skoal
Showdown.²
Pedregon will match up with Del Worsham in the round one of tomorrowıs Skoal
Showdown.
