Cruz Pedregon Qualifying Notes From Indy

CLERMONT, Ind. (Sept. 3, 2005) ­ Cruz Pedregon and the Advance Auto Parts
Nitro Funny Car wrapped up the second day of qualifying for the U.S.
Nationals at Indianapolis Raceway Park.

Pedregon sits in the 20th position after posting a 5.010-second elapsed time
at 233.64 mph during tonightıs third session. His final qualifying pass
tonight was a dramatic one.

³We got out of the groove and over-revved the engine,² said Pedregon, after
safely managing to stop the car and put out the in-car fire. ³The team will
thrash on the car and get it ready for tomorrow.²

Pedregon takes on Gary Scelzi in the first round tomorrowıs Skoal Showdown.
