Cruz Pedregon Qualifying Notes From Indy

CLERMONT, Ind. (Sept. 2, 2005) ­ Cruz Pedregon, driver of the Advance Auto
Parts Nitro Funny Car, completed his first round of qualifying today for
this year¹s U.S. Nationals at historic Indianapolis Raceway Park.

Pedregon drove to a 5.056-second elapsed time at 233.16 mph, starting off in
the 19th slot. He talked about his day.

³We were on a very good run,² said Pedregon, the 1992 NHRA POWERade Funny
Car World Champion. ³We dropped a cylinder and lost momentum at the top end.
Conditions were pretty good tonight, and they should be similar ­ at least
for the evening session ­ tomorrow.²
