WHITCHURCH TAKES FOURTH IN LAST SEVEN CALIFORNIA DIRT FOCUS
RACES; BARBER CLOSING IN ON TITLE
INDIANAPOLIS – Californians Robbie Whitchurch of Chico and Chase Barber of
Morgan Hill are closing out the USAC California Ford Focus Dirt Midget Car
Series in style. Whitchurch won his fourth feature in the last seven races
Saturday at Santa Maria Speedway in Santa Maria, Calif., while Barber inched
closer to his first USAC title.
A pair of races occupy this weekend’s schedule. The first comes Friday, in
which a 20-lapper is scheduled at the Watsonville Speedway in Watsonville,
Calif. On Saturday, the Focus Midgets are back at Petaluma Speedway in
Petaluma, Calif. for a 20-lap feature.
Whitchurch traded the lead with Barber in Saturday’s 25-lapper, ultimately
taking the checkered flag first in his No. 82 Ford Focus powered machine
with Barber in tow. Whitchurch led all but Laps 15-18, as Barber occupied
the point.
Barber eventually finished second, ahead of Chris Veach, Jenna Frazier and
Audra Sasselli.
Barber’s lead flourished to 89 markers over Alex Harris, who finished 10th.
Only three races remain on the Dirt calendar.
