SBORO LEADS NORTHEAST FOCUS MIDGETS TO OSWEGO; ANDERSEN TOPS
LOUIE SEYMOUR CLASSIC AT SEEKONK
INDIANAPOLIS – Teenager Michael Sboro of Watertown, N.Y. continues to close
in on his first USAC title as he leads Brit Andersen of Branford, Conn. and
the rest of the Northeast Ford Focus Midget Car Series contingent into
Saturday’s race at Oswego Speedway in Oswego, N.Y. for a prominent showdown
with a hometown favorite.
Andersen and Sboro finished one-two in Saturday’s “Boston Louie Seymour
Memorial Classic” at Seekonk Speedway in Seekonk, Mass. Andersen, in the No.
70 Beast/Ford Focus, led all but the opening three laps to score his second
victory of the Northeast season.
Trailing the pair – both in their second year of Ford Focus competition
after Top 10 point finishes in last season’s Carolina/Virginia standings –
were Jeff Abold, Aaron Wall and Ryan Smith, who led the first three laps.
Sboro leads Abold – a native of Oswego – by 39 points heading into Saturday’
s action. Only two races remain in the Northeast division, which is in its
inaugural season. Nick Wean, who finished sixth at Seekonk, retains third in
points, five behind Abold.
