DRAKE, JONES TIE FOR EARL'S SPRINT LEAD!

Jay Drake and Levi Jones are now tied for the lead in the
2005 Earl's Fast Qualifier standings in USAC's Valvoline National Sprint
Car Series. They will attempt to break the tie when the series resumes
Sept. 23-24 in the "4-Crown Nationals" at Rossburg, Ohio

Top Earl's point earners last week included Drake and
Bobby East (National Sprints at Pontoon Beach, Ill. and Milwaukee, Wis.
respectively), Jerry Coons, Jr. (National Midgets at Sun Prairie, Wis.),
Tony Hunt (Valvoline Western Sprints and Western Midgets at Stockton,
Calif.), Damion Gardner (Valvoline CRA Sprints at Santa Maria, Calif.) and
Chase Scott, Nick Wean and Keith Janca (Ford Focus Midgets at Mansfield,
Ohio, Seekonk, Mass. and Santa Maria, Calif. respectively).

Earl's points will be up for grabs this week in events at
DuQuoin, Ill. (Weld Racing Silver Crown), Salt Lake City, Utah (Valvoline
Western Sprints), Perris, Calif. (Valvoline CRA Sprints) plus Watsonville
and Petaluma, Calif., Tulsa, Okla. and Oswego, N.Y. (Ford Focus Midgets).

Points are awarded at each USAC event based on an
international system awarding the top-six qualifiers with points in the
following scale: 1st-9, 2nd-6, 3rd-4, 4th-3, 5th-2, 6th-1. When qualifying
is not held, points are awarded based on a system of lineup points earned
in the preliminary heats.

Each USAC National, Western and Ford Focus Midget Car
Earl's Plumbing FQ Champion will be honored at USAC's Champions Night
ceremony in Indianapolis. The National and Western FQ champs will receive
$5,000 each, while the Ford Focus FQ champs will each receive $1,000.
