Unisys Wins Contract from Canadian General Tower; Unisys will implement Microsoft Axapta ERP solution to help Canadian General Tower improve business operations and generate efficiencies

DETROIT--Aug. 2, 20059, 2005--Unisys Corporation today announced that it was awarded a new contract by Canadian General Tower (CGT) to implement the Microsoft Axapta ERP solution, streamlining business processes and delivering economic value. CGT manufactures coated fabrics and foams for automotive seating, doors and instrument panels as well as for pool liners, singleply roofing and containment applications in the construction industry. It produces interior fabrics for approximately 80 percent of car and light truck platforms in North America.

"Our previous IT systems were not providing us any competitive advantage. They offered limited functionality and integration, and were expensive to maintain," said Tim Armstrong, vice president, Corporate Systems, Canadian General Tower. "Unisys and Microsoft understand our business needs. With the Microsoft Axapta automotive supplier solution, we will be able to serve our customers better and more efficiently."

The new solution will replace a number of disparate applications. It will increase efficiencies by automating and integrating core business processes, including demand management, order fulfillment, manufacturing, production planning, purchasing and finance. It will also provide key supply chain capabilities designed specifically for the automotive industry, such as Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), sales schedules management, just-in-time and lean manufacturing and vendor management inventory, enabling CGT to improve operations.

"CGT requires an innovative and efficient supply chain solution to operate in the highly competitive automotive supplier market," said Matt Pannier, vice president and managing partner, North America Commercial Consumer and Industrial Products, Unisys. "The new solution will provide CGT with better insight into its operations, enabling the company to adapt more quickly to customer demand and industry changes."

Microsoft Axapta is an ERP solution that connects all parts of a business -- from supply chain management, customer and supplier relationship management, manufacturing and inventory to financials.

"Today's auto suppliers are facing some daunting challenges. They have to find new ways to differentiate themselves from their competitors while simultaneously reducing costs. CGT seems to have the right priorities, focusing on improving the insight into their business," said Kyle Solomon, global industry manager, Automotive, Microsoft Corp. "We are committed to working with our key partners, such as Unisys, to deliver solutions that enable automotive suppliers to achieve peak performance in the auto industry."
