Navy Surface Warfare Center Awarded a Phase I SBIR to ISSYS Inc. For the Developing an Improved Vacuum Packaging Process for Advanced Inertial Sensors Using NanoGetters(TM)

YPSILANTI, Mich.--Aug. 2, 20059, 2005--Integrated Sensing Systems, Inc. (ISSYS) in Ypsilanti, Michigan, announced today that it has won a Navy SBIR contract, entitled " Improved Vacuum Process for Advanced Inertial Sensors Using NanoGetters." This six-month project will develop new methods of applying NanoGetters(TM) and vacuum packaging inertial sensors using ISSYS patented technology. The basic technology has already been employed to produce density, specific gravity, gyroscopes, RF-MEMS resonators and IR sensors through ISSYS' wholly owned subsidiary, NanoGetters.

Dr. Douglas R. Sparks, ISSYS Executive Vice President and President of NanoGetters(TM) stated "This new technology offers a way to vastly improve the hermetic packaging of a large array of different microsensor and displays. It truly has been applied across a wide spectrum of medical, scientific, consumer electronics, automotive and defense applications. NanoGetters(TM) has enabled new devices to be produced that were impractical to make without this improved vacuum packaging, and it has improved the performance and reliability of existing devices. It's rewarding to see an invention be used in so many fields, and we look forward to working with the Navy to integrate it into their inertial sensors to improve system performance."
