GEICO Catastrophe Response Teams Helping Victims of Hurricane Katrina

NEW ORLEANS, Aug. 29, 2005 -- GEICO's claims staff has been on duty in the Gulf Coast since Hurricane Katrina first threatened the area over the weekend. GEICO's Catastrophe Response Teams (CAT) were also deployed to Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama and will remain in place until all hurricane claims are resolved.

To reach GEICO's claims teams at anytime, 24 hours a day, call 1-800-841-3000, or report on the claim on GEICO's web site, http://www.geico.com/.

GEICO urges policyholders whose cars have been damaged in the hurricane to report their losses as soon as possible. GEICO's goal is to have GEICO adjusters inspect customers' damaged vehicles within 48 hours and claims will be processed immediately.

"During an emergency like this," said GEICO President and CEO Tony Nicely, "the best thing we can do for our policyholders is prepare our CAT teams with the supplies they'll need and move them immediately into those areas. GEICO values its customers' security and peace of mind, and we will help get policyholders back on the road as soon as possible."

GEICO (Government Employees Insurance Company) is the fourth largest private passenger auto insurer in the United States. It provides auto insurance coverage for more than 6 million policyholders and insures more than 10 million vehicles. For more information, go to http://www.geico.com/.
