RINGERS GLOVES WEEKEND WRAP-UP
Guess Who Visited Victory Lane at the Busch Race in Bristol?
Moorpark, Calif. - (August 29, 2005) Ryan Newman captured his third
consecutive win in the NASCAR Busch Series on Friday night in the Food City 250 at
Bristol Motor Speedway.
After two red flag periods for rain, Newman led the last 113 laps of the
race and took his No. 39 Alltel Dodge to Victory Lane once again.
His next scheduled Busch race is at the Monster Mile of Dover International
Speedway.
Bristol on Saturday night wasn’t as nice to Newman as it was on Friday.
Newman had a couple incidents with Dale Jarrett in the race, with the second one
parking him on lap 317. He was scored in 39th.
His Penske Racing South teammate Rusty Wallace had a great showing in his
final Bristol appearance.
Wallace qualified 20th for the Sharpie 500, took the lead in the late laps
of the race when he opted not to pit with the leaders, fell back without the
fresher tires, but managed to hold on for a fifth place finish.
Their teammate Travis Kvapil survived all 500 laps of the race and came home
the highest finishing Raybestos Rookie of the Year contender in 19th.
Only two races remain until the Chase for the Nextel Cup begins. The NASCAR
Busch and Nextel Cup Series head west this weekend to two-mile, D-shaped oval
of the California Speedway.
