GRANITE CITY, Ill., Aug. 29, 2005 -- At a ceremony on Tuesday, August 30, employees of U. S. Steel Granite City Works will receive plaque and flag in recognition of the facility achieving Ford Motor Company's Bulk Materials Q1 quality certification. Executives from Ford Motor Company will be at Granite City Works to make the presentation.

To achieve certification, Granite City Works had to demonstrate excellence in four critical areas: capable systems (QS-9000 and ISO 14001 certification), ongoing performance, continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
