Franchitti Races to Eighth-Place Finish at Infineon Raceway

SONOMA, Calif. (Aug. 28, 2005) - ArcaEx driver Dario Franchitti drove from deep in the field to an
eighth-place finish in Sunday's running of the Indy Racing LeagueŽ IndyCarŽ Series Argent Mortgage Indy
Grand Prix at Infineon Raceway.
Forced to start the event from 21st position due to a spin during his qualifying attempt, Franchitti steered
clear of the numerous spins and incidents that plagued many of his competitors. While the tight, twisty Infineon
circuit didn't allow for many passing opportunities, Franchitti managed to move his way through the field to his
eventual eighth-place finish.
Tony Kanaan earned his second victory of the season with Buddy Rice second, Alex Barron third,
Patrick Carpentier in fourth and Tomas Enge fifth.
Franchitti stands fourth in the driver points standings with 395 points through 14 events, 122 points shy
of leader Dan Wheldon and 26 points out of third place.
Next up for Franchitti and the rest of the IndyCar Series teams is the Chicagoland Indy 300 at
Chicagoland Speedway on Sunday, Sept. 11. The event will be televised live by ABC, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
(EDT). It can also be heard live by XM Satellite Radio subscribers by tuning into Extreme XM, channel 152.

Dario Franchitti, #27 ArcaEx Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"There were two things that hurt us today: the starting position plus we didn't really have that good of a
car. The warm up yesterday threw us off because the cars changed from Friday's practice. The car was
completely different in the warm up and we made some changes, but the car went back to Friday's conditions.
We had some pretty horrendous understeer. I made up a lot of places on the first lap, but after that I really
couldn't make any headway. You just can't pass here, no matter how much slower the guy in front of you is, you
just can't pass."

Kyle Moyer, General Manager, Andretti Green Racing:
"Today, we did what a lot of guys out there didn't; we kept our nose clean. The yellows just didn't fall our
way. By starting in the back, we needed some help but nothing came our way. It was a great win for Tony,
though. He drove a great race."
