Bryan Herta Suffers From Some Unfortunate Luck

SONOMA, Calif. (Aug. 28, 2005) - Bryan Herta had a well-balanced race car, but suffered from
some unfortunate luck on his way to a 13th-place finish at Sunday's Argent Mortgage Indy Grand Prix at
Infineon Raceway. The driver of the XM Satellite Radio car remains eighth in the Indy Racing LeagueŽ
IndyCarŽ Series championship, 11 points out of seventh place.
As the leading cars took advantage of a yellow flag less than 20 laps into the race, the XM Satellite
Radio crew decided against pitting and immediately found themselves leading the race. Herta remained in
the lead until he had to make his first pit stop on lap 32 and exited in 11th place.
While the race played out, Herta remained near the top-10 positions. However, with less than five
laps remaining and while trying to get around Kosuke Matsuura, the two tangled, Herta had to enter the pits
for a front wing change and wound up losing some ground before the race concluded.
Herta's Andretti Green Racing teammate, Tony Kanaan, picked up his second victory of 2005 and a
second AGR road-course victory in as many races. Buddy Rice and Alex Barron finished second and third,
respectively. Patrick Carpentier and Tomas Enge rounded out the top five.
After taking a weekend off, the IndyCar Series resumes Sunday, Sept. 11, from Chicagoland
Speedway. The 200-lap Chicagoland Indy 300 will be televised live by ABC beginning at 1:30 p.m. (EDT). It
can also be heard live by XM subscribers on Extreme XM, channel 152.

Bryan Herta, #7 XM Satellite Radio Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"We didn't need to see all the yellows that we got. Unfortunately, the strategy didn't pan out in our
favor. We had a fast car today and the guys worked hard. It was just an unfortunate result."

George Klotz, Team Manager, #7 XM Satellite Radio Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"We didn't need the last yellow. It was certainly bad luck on our part. We led some laps, the car was
good all day and we didn't have to make any changes at all. Bryan drove the hell out of the car and the XM
Satellite Radio crew did a great job in the pits, and that's all you can ask for. The cards just didn't fall our
way today."
