Miller's Time at The Milwaukee Mile

Milwaukee, Wis. (August 27, 2005) - After letting victory slip away
within the final ten laps a year ago in the Governor's Cup Mid-Am Stock
Car Series race at The Milwaukee Mile, Jeremy Miller decided not to let
that happen again. On Saturday afternoon during the six division
Governor's Cup weekend at the historic speedway, he charged to the front
early.

The top ten racers were inverted for the start of the race, meaning
Miller, the quickest qualifier, started outside of the fifth row.

Miller pounced at the drop of the green, moving into the sixth position
at the completion of the first lap.

"I tried to get to the front as quick as I could because I didn't know
who had what," explained Miller. "I figured if I got to the front I
could run my own line."

On an early race restart, fourth-starting Gary Lamonte of West Allis,
Wis. grabbed the lead from pole-sitter Ryan Finley two laps before
Miller closed in.

On lucky lap thirteen of fourty, a driven Miller made his move for the
lead off of turn two in the upper groove of the flat oval.

"I got a run off of two and when he (Lamonte) got loose and I got to the
outside," said Miller. "I knew he was probably going to run in as deep
as I was in turn three. Typically that's when I get into trouble, I
usually drive in too deep. It worked out though, he slid up, we bumped
and I got the lead off of four."

Once Miller got the lead, he pulled away from the rest of the field.
Two more cautions bunched up the field, but Lamonte was no match for the
driven bridesmaid of a year ago.

"We finished with a tight car last year," Miller recalled. "We led till
about ten to go and then we got passed by (current NASCAR Midwest Series
rookie driver) Josh Bauer. I told the guys we weren't going to do that
this year."

A lifelong resident of the neighborhood surrounding The Milwaukee Mile,
Lamonte was pleased to finish so well in front of family and friends
after wholesale changes to his Monte Carlo on Friday.

"Its great, as a kid I've always dreamed of racing here," said a happy
Lamonte. "The dream pretty much came through, but I was one spot
short."

Johnny Senerchia of Orland Park, Ill., Finley and Brad Keith of West
Bend, Wis. completed the top five finishers.

James Swan advanced from 14th to sixth at the stripe, followed by
qualifying race transfer Peter Hernandez from 25th, Bill Prietzel, Mike
Skaja and Scott Ascher of Sussex, Wis., who advanced from 24th to tenth.

Three exciting back-to-back feature events are on the card Sunday
afternoon at The Milwaukee Mile. The Governor's Cup Super Truck
40-lapper gets the green flag at 1:30pm CST, with Wisconsin racing
legend Dick Trickle competing in the 50-lap Governor's Cup MARS Super
Late Model race.
The "Milwaukee 200" NASCAR Autozone Elite Division, Midwest Series main
event rolls at 3:00pm.

Tickets are still available at The Milwaukee Mile Grandstand Avenue
