Rahmer Wins at SSP on Thursday Night
Newberrytown, PA (August 25, 2005) - Fred Rahmer raced to his third
Susquehanna Speedway Park Sprint Car win of the season on Thursday evening. In
other action, Gene Knaub won the Xtreme Stock car feature, Brian Lomman topped
the XSC Rookie Rumble, JR Rodriguez won the Great American School Bus Race,
Kendra Knaub won the Women on Wheels feature, and Butch Richcreek Jr. topped
the Mini Van Red Rover Race.
Rahmer started seventh in the 25 lap Sprint Car feature and took the lead
from Chris Meleason on the fourth lap. Meleason had moved from third to first
at the start to lead the first three laps. Rahmer led the remainder of the
distance to top Lance Dewease for the win. Greg Hodnett finished third to
maintain his season point lead, with Bobby Weaver and Jason Johnson in the top
five. Rounding out the top ten were Eric Stambaugh, Pat Cooper, Meleason,
Chad Jumper and Scott Lutz. Heats went to Rahmer and Meleason.
Rahmer’s win was only his third of the season at SSP, and his 23rd overall.
The win was also Rahmer’s 28th career SSP win, moving him into a fourth
place tie with Steve Smith on the all-time win list at the speedway.
Knaub raced forward from midpack to take the lead from Trevor Stark on the
sixth of 25 laps in the XSC feature event. Knaub went on to best the car he
owns, with Rick Reinoehl the driver. Knaubs win was his fifth of the season.
Following Knaub and Reinoehl were Jason Failor, Tom Slanker and Charlie
Pensinger.
Lomman took the top spot on the ninth lap of the XSC Rookie Rumble when Ken
Johns dropped from competition with mechanical problems. He went on to score
his first win over Carl Sipe, Matt Deardorff, Rob Stitley, and John Hiden
Jr.
JR Rodriguez led early in the 15-lap Great American School Bus Race, but
lost the lead to Rob Harkins on the fifth lap. Rodriguez came back to pass
Harkins on the final lap for the win. Harold Ebaugh, Heidi Thomas and Shawn
Arndt completed the top five.
Kendra Knaub, wife of the Xtreme Stock feature event winner Gene Knaub,
passed Penny Repp on the ninth of 12 laps to win the Women on wheels feature
event. The win was Knaubs second of the season. Repp finished second followed
by Nancy Horan Frye, Karen Prowell, and Deanna Frye.
Richcreek survived the elimination Red Rover matches, and then led all four
laps of the final oval portion of the event to win the Mini Van event.
The final event for the Sprint Cars at SSP in 2005 will be Thursday night,
September 1 with the 5th Annual York County Nationals. Also racing will be
the Xtreme Stock Cars, XSC Rookie Rumble and Legends Cars. The 32-lap York
County Nationals will pay $3,200-to-win. The King of the Posse Match Races will
determine the starting lineup for the feature event. The top five in points
as of August 30 square off in one-on-one 2 lap races along with the three
heat race winners in a single elimination 8 driver tournament. The winner of
the tournament will be awarded the pole position for the York County Nationals
along with $500 in prize monies. The King of the Posse tournament will
determine the top 8 positions for the feature and the remainder of the field will
line up “heads up�?? based off of heat and consolation finishes. Twenty-four
cars will take the green for the York County Nationals. Heat race lineups
will be determined by a blind draw. If needed, the rain date will be Sunday,
September 11, for this event.
Gates open in the pit area and grandstands at 5:00 p.m. Warm-ups begin at
7:00 p.m. with racing beginning promptly at 7:30 p.m. Grandstand ticket
prices are Adults (18 & older) $15.00; Teens (13-17) $8.00; Children (6-12)
$4.00; and Children (5 & under) are free.
SSP will continue its Repeat Fan Discount in which there will be a $2.00
discount for each person on August 25 with a ticket stub from the August 18 or
August 21 events only. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name,
address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special
drawings during the season for great prizes. Last season, the grand prize was
two tickets for the October NASCAR race at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway in
Charlotte, North Carolina. Pit pass prices are $20.00 with a reduced price of
$18.00 for all track licensee holders.

- The Super Sportsman at SSP culminates with the Inaugural 75-lap Trail
Motors Championship on Sunday, September 4, paying $2,500 to the winner. For the
championship race, there will be 12 automatic qualifiers for the event
determined by the winners of the following events: 1) Silver Spring (Sat., May 28 –
Craig Morrow); 2) SSP (Sun., May 29 – Russ Mitten); 3) SSP (Sun., June 5 –
Dave Calaman); 4) Port Royal (Wed., June 15 - Pat Cannon); 5) SSP (Sun.,
June 19 – Rich Eichelberger); 6) Williams Grove (Fri., June 24 – Danny
Hager); 7) Silver Spring (Sat., July 2 – Billy Schoffstall); 8) SSP (Sun., July 3 –
