Shanghai International Intelligent Parking Seminar 2005 to Open Soon
SHANGHAI, China, Aug. 26, 2005 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Shanghai International Exhibition Co., Ltd. (SIEC) announced today that the ''Shanghai International Intelligent Parking Seminar 2005'' will be held in Shanghai on September 1. In order to promote communications within the intelligent parking industry, study and utilize experiences of static transportation management in other countries, and actively respond to the challenges of the World Expo 2010, industry professionals from countries and regions, including Australia, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, China and Taiwan will attend the event.
In recent years, with vehicle volumes in Shanghai increasing vastly, the problems in static transportation management become more distinctive. Shanghai now has 240,800 parking spaces, with public spaces only accounting for 2% of the total vehicles, far lower than the international level of 10%-15%. The number of auto vehicles in Shanghai will jump to 1.6-1.8 million in 2010 from 840,000 in 2004; at the same time there will be 70 million visitors in Shanghai during the World Expo, which will impose great challenges on the endurance and capability of the urban dynamic and static transportation system in Shanghai.
The Shanghai Municipal Government has already projected to greatly promote the construction of the Intelligent Parking System and Technology, which is committed to encouraging diversified investment in the construction of public parking lots (garages) and supporting and assisting the orderly development of the parking industry to alleviate the pressure of static transportation during the World Expo. The successful inauguration of the Shanghai International Parking Equipment and Intelligent System Expo 2004 also drew attention from many professionals and media to solve problems in urban parking difficulties.
The seminar will be hosted by Shanghai World Expo (Group) Co., Ltd., China Heavy Machinery Industry Association Working Committee for Parking Equipment Manufacture and the Shanghai Parking Service Trade Association; organized by Shanghai International Exhibition Co., Ltd.; and co-organized by Hangzhou XIZI-IUK Parking System Co., Ltd. The theme of the seminar is closely related to the participation in the construction of the urban parking intelligent system and the World Expo, with a view to building an interactive platform for the government and companies in resolving problems, such as urban parking difficulties, and enabling domestic and international parking plot designers and companies that develop and manufacture relevant products to further understand the construction status of the Shanghai World Expo. As a result, they can participate in the construction of parking lots for the Shanghai World Expo in an all round way.
The seminar has received direction and support from authorities, such as the Shanghai Urban Transport Bureau, the Shanghai Urban Planning Administration Bureau, Municipal Traffic Division of Shanghai Police Bureau and the Shanghai Municipal Engineering Administration.
During the seminar, relevant government officials, experts and scholars in parking and intelligent transportation fields, real estate developers and suppliers of relevant products will discuss and delve into a series of issues, such as how to alleviate the pressures on the urban dynamic and static transportation system in Shanghai generated by the great numbers of audiences during the World Expo 2010; how to take the successful experiences from foreign countries in the development of parking industry as references and absorb social capitals on investment in the construction, operation and management of parking lots to promote the orderly development of China's parking industry; and the developing direction of the 2010 World Expo and urban intelligent parking, etc.
