Green ready for challenge at Bristol

Green ready for challenge at Bristol

Eddyville, Ky. – Mark Green is looking forward to a great day of racing at Bristol Motor Speedway on Friday. Green is one of 53 drivers entered in the Food City 250 that will run Friday evening.

“Everyone loves the racing at Bristol,” said Green, driver of the #23 BMAR Chevrolet. “It is an incredibly fun track and the night race is always one of the most anticipated events of the season for both fans and drivers.”

But while it is an enjoyable place to compete, Green explained that drivers are thoroughly tested at the ‘World’s Fastest Half-Mile.’

“You’ve really got be on top of your game there,” he said. “With 43 cars on that short of a track you are never really clear. It really tests you as a driver because there is always someone right on top of you and you never get the chance to relax. One mistake can send you to the garage in a hurry.

With 31 positions locked by owner’s points and a past champion’s provisional, Green will be competing with 22 other drivers for the remaining 12 starting positions.

“It’s another very tight field this week,” Green said. “It seems like the fields just keep getting larger at the end of the year. We are going to have to earn our way into the race because there are several very good cars that have to get in on time.”

The lone practice session will take place at 9:45 a.m. of Friday. Qualifying will air on Speed at 4:30 p.m. and the race will follow at 7:30 p.m. on TNT. All times are eastern.
