AMERICUS, Ga. (August 22, 2005) - After the completion of the 18th 
annual NHRA O'Reilly Mid-South Nationals at Memphis Motorsports Park, 
the 11th of 15 events on the Pro Stock Motorcycle 2005 NHRA POWERade 
Drag Racing Series schedule, the following reflect the point status 
(Bonus and Championship) Gino Scali (573: -165) of Chip Ellis, who rides 
the G Squared/S&S Buell:

After the 15th of 15 events, Chip Ellis, aboard the G 
Squared/S&S-powered Buell, wrapped up a spot in this year's *Ringers 
Gloves Pro Bike Battle*, which will be contested, Sat., Sept. 3, as a 
special bonus event during the prestigious 2005 Mac Tools U.S. Nationals 
at Indianapolis Raceway Park (IRP).  The Americus, Ga., rider is tied 
for the No. 3 position (with GT Tonglet).  (Full details and pairings 
for the Ringers Gloves Pro Bike Battle will be available soon.)
  
Riders began earning points for the 2005 Ringers Gloves Pro Bike Battle 
at the 2004 Mac Tools U.S. Nationals. The eight riders who accumulated 
the most qualifying points during the 15-race Ringers Gloves Pro Bike 
Battle series, which concluded at this past weekend's 2005 O'Reilly NHRA 
Mid-South Nationals at Memphis Motorsports Park, earned a berth in the 
Ringers Gloves Pro Bike Battle.

Points system for the Ringers Gloves Pro Bike Battle: Riders earned 
points for the Ringers Gloves Pro Bike Battle based on their qualifying 
position at the 15 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series events that feature 
Pro Stock Bike competition. Each position is worth the following points: 
No. 1 - 175; No. 2 - 165; No. 3 - 155; No. 4 - 145; No. 5 - 140; No. 6 - 
135; No. 7 - 130; No. 8 - 125; No. 9 - 120; No. 10 - 115; No. 11 - 110; 
No. 12 - 105; No. 13 - 100; No. 14 - 95; No. 15 - 90; No. 16 - 85.

The top eight qualifiers for the 2005 Ringers Gloves Pro Bike Battle 
are: 1.) Andrew Hines (2425 points); 2.) Antron Brown (2230); 3.) Tie: 
*Chip Ellis* and GT Tonglet (2225 each); 5.) Angelle Sampey (2020); 6.) 
Gino Scali (1915); 7.) Steve Johnson (1745); 8.) Craig Treble (1730).

Ellis heads to the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at IRP - Indianapolis 
Raceway Park - No. 6 in the *NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Motorcycle 
Championship* point standings.  He now has 621 points, 229 points behind 
the leader Andrew Hines.

Points system for the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series: There is a 
maximum of 138 points available in each professional category at each 
national event.  Competitors in the four professional categories (Top 
Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle) earn points at the 
23 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series national events (15 events for Pro 
Stock Motorcycle) as follows: Qualifying Position: No. 1 (8 points); No. 
2 (7); No. 3 (6); No. 4 (5); Nos. 5-6 (4); Nos.7-8 (3); Nos. 9-12 (2); 
and Nos. 13-16 (1).  The 16 qualifiers earn eliminations rounds points 
as follows: 100 points for Winner of category; 80 points to the 
runner-up; 60 points to the semifinal round losers; 40 points to the 
quarterfinal round losers; and 20 points to first-round losers.  
Additional points are awarded as follows: 10 to all professional 
competitors in each professional category making at least one qualifying 
run during a national event and 20 to the professional competitor in 
each professional category that leaves that national event with the 
elapsed-time national record (which was set at that national event).
 
The top ten in the NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Motorcycle point standings 
are: 1.) Andrew Hines (850 points); 2.) (835 points: -15 behind Hines); 
3.) Antron Brown (746: -104); 4.) Ryan Schnitz (638: -212); 5.) Angelle 
Sampey (628: -222); 6.) *Chip Ellis (621: -229)*; 7.) Karen Stoffer 
(612: -238); 8.) Gino Scali (604: -246); 9.) Craig Treble (559: -291); 
and 10.) Steve Johnson (513: -337).

*NEXT EVENT:* The next event for Chip Ellis and G Squared Motorsports is 
the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at IRP, which unfolds Aug. 31- Sept. 5, the 
12th of 15 national events for Pro Stock Motorcycles on the NHRA 
POWERade Drag Racing Series.  Professional qualifying begins on Sept. 2 
and concludes on Sept. 4 (1 session on Friday, 2 each on Sat. and 
Sun.).  Eliminations are scheduled for Mon., Sept. 5, Labor Day.
