                           WHELDON WINS RECORD-TYING FIFTH RACE OF 2005;
                         GIVES HONDA ENGINE MANUFACTURER CHAMPIONSHIP

FOUNTAIN, Colo. (Aug. 21, 2005) - Klein Tools/Jim Beam driver Dan Wheldon took the lead on lap
165 and led the final 61 laps to record his fifth win of the 2005 Indy Racing LeagueŽ IndyCarŽ Series season at
Sunday's Honda Indy 225 at Pikes Peak International Raceway. With the win, Wheldon increased his lead in
the championship to 97 points over Sam Hornish Jr. and gave Honda its second-consecutive engine
manufacturer title.
Wheldon quickly found his groove, settled into the car early in the race and gradually moved through the
field from his 11th starting position. During his initial pit stop, the Klein Tools/Jim Beam crew made a front wing
adjustment and a tire pressure change that proved to be just what Wheldon needed.
Wheldon took his first lead in the race with less than 75 laps remaining. After his final pit stop, under
green-flag conditions, Wheldon regained the lead and dominated over the remaining laps. Wheldon's final
margin of victory was 12.4763 seconds.
The win gives Wheldon eight career IndyCar Series wins, tying him with Buddy Lazier for the third-most
victories in history. Hornish finished second, followed by Tony Kanaan, Helio Castroneves and Vitor Meira.
The next race on the IndyCar Series schedule is slated for Sunday, Aug. 28, from Infineon Raceway.
ABC will provide live coverage of the second road course race in IndyCar Series history at 3:30 p.m. (EDT).

Dan Wheldon, #26 Klein Tools/Jim Beam Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"Today was a great team effort by all the guys on the Klein Tools/Jim Beam crew. With the way the
championship is right now, it was a great time for another victory. The team works very, very hard and are very
deserving of this victory. It is very satisfying for me because it was one of Sam Hornish's stronger
performances, so to win was fantastic."

John Anderson, Team Manager, #26 Klein Tools/Jim Beam Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"It was just an awesome day. I can't say enough about Dan. That was the best exhibition I've seen in
quite a while; especially when he went into turn 1 three-wide, on the outside, just fantastic. Dan loves to be on
the point. He wants to get up there with the leaders, then he wants to take the lead. We had great pit stops as
well, the Klein Tools/Jim Beam boys got him in and out when they needed to and it was a job well done."
