Tony Pedregon Secures 12th Qualifying Position
Q Racing Pilot Thinks Experience Will Be A Key Tomorrow


MILLINGTON, Tenn. (Aug. 20, 2005) ­ Tony Pedregon and the Q Racing Nitro
Funny Car wrapped up the 12th qualifying slot for this weekendšs OšReilly
Mid-South NHRA Nationals at Memphis Motorsports Park.

Pedregon, who also collected a slot in the upcoming Skoal Showdown during
the U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis Raceway Park in two weeks, lapped the
western Tennessee quarter mile in 5.040 seconds at 294.05 mph.

With a 3 p.m., local start here, the extreme heat experienced throughout
this weekend will come into play. Pedregon talked about that.

ŗI think the more experienced drivers will have an advantage tomorrow,˛
Pedregon said. ŗOn that last run tonight, I thought we could have run in the
middle 4.90šs. We have a lot of power in this Q Racing machine, but wešre
going to need make sure we get down track. The heat and slick race track
will be a factor, especially for the first two rounds of eliminations.˛

Pedregon takes on Eric Medlen as his round one opponent tomorrow afternoon.
