RINGERS GLOVES WEEKEND WRAP-UP
Newman Scores Busch Win

Moorpark, Calif. - (August 16, 2005) While Ryan Newman isn?t running
for points in the NASCAR Busch Series, he showed on Saturday in the
Zippo 200 at Watkins Glen International that he still knows how to win.

Newman, who is running a limited schedule in the Busch Series this
year, passed Brian Vickers with eight laps to go to score his first
road course win in his racing career.

Newman piloted his No. 39 Alltel Dodge to Victory Lane for his first
Busch Series win since August 2001 at Michigan.

Even though he won on Saturday, his No. 12 Alltel Dodge in the
NASCAR Nextel Cup Series didn?t fair as well on Sunday. He first had a
rear brake problem, later to be followed by a transmission problem.

His day didn?t end early, but could only muster a 30th place finish.
His teammate Rusty Wallace had a great day finishing sixth, while the
third Penske South driver, Travis Kvapil, came home 40th.

Both NASCAR?s Busch and Cup Series head to Michigan International
Speedway this weekend, along with ARCA, for a race-packed weekend.

Orleans Racing and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series visited the
Music City and the Nashville Superspeedway on Saturday for the Toyota
Tundra 200.

Brendan Gaughan and his No. 77 Jasper Engines and Transmissions
Dodge had a pretty good day. Gaughan qualified his truck in the 28th
position, but brought it in the garage at the end of the day with a
top-10 finish, finishing sixth.

His teammate Steve Park qualified 14th and parked his No. 62 Orleans
Racing Dodge with a 15th place finish.

Up next for the Truck Series is the O?Reilly 200 at Bristol Motor
Speedway on August 24.

The National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) visited the northern part of
the States for the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals at Brainerd International
Raceway (Minn.) over the weekend.

The Ringers team of Don Prudhomme Racing and the Miller Lite Top
Fuel dragster of Larry Dixon made a final round appearance against Doug
Kallita.

Unfortunately, Dixon lost traction early on and was defeated by
Kallita.

Kurt Johnson picked up his third win in the last five races at
Brainerd on Sunday.

He piloted his Chevy Cobalt Pro Stock to the Winner?s Circle over
Greg Stanfield, 6.726/204.57 mph to 6.778/203.71 mph.

It was an all Harley, all Vance & Hines Pro Stock Motorcycle final
on Sunday.

GT Tonglet reclaimed the points lead with a victory over his
teammate Andrew Hines. Hines is only six points back from Tonglet.

NHRA heads to the home of Elvis, Memphis, Tenn., for the O?Reilly
Mid-South Nationals, August 19-21.

Ringers Gloves would like to congratulate Ringers supporter Shane
Stewart for his preliminary night win at the Knoxville Raceway on
Friday. Stewart followed that win up with a fourth place finish in the
45th annual Knoxville Nationals presented by Midwest Ford Dealers on
Sunday.

Craig Dollansky, another Ringers notable in the field, finished 10th.

Ringers would also like to send out our thoughts and prayers to
Kevin Doty and his family. Doty was injured at a Badger Midget Auto
Racing Association (BMARA) race on Sunday at Angell Park Speedway in
Sun Prairie, Wis. Updates on Doty?s condition can be found at
www.bmara.com.
