SOBO UP NEXT FOR CAROLINA/VIRGINIA FOCUS MIDGETS; OAKLEY
RACKS UP FIRST CAREER WIN AT FLORENCE
INDIANAPOLIS – The USAC Carolina/Virginia Ford Focus Midget Car Series moves
to South Boston Speedway for the final time this season on Saturday night
with a 25-lap feature on tap on the 4/10-mile pavement oval.
The event is the fourth of the year at the Virginia track, which has hosted
races producing winners Chase Scott, Robbie Ray and A.J. Davis.
Aron Oakley of China Grove, N.C. took Saturday’s makeup feature at Florence
Motor Speedway in Timmonsville, S.C. in the same car Davis piloted to
victory at South Boston. Driving the No. 43 Corey Tucker-owned BEL Lawn
Care/Mobil 1 Bullet/Ford Focus, Oakley took command on Lap 4 of the 25-lap
race and led Scott, Ray, Brit Andersen and Gary Winters to the stripe for
his first career victory. Andersen led the opening three laps of the
contest.
Scott, the night’s fast qualifier, leads Ray by 56 points.
