COONS ENTERS MIDGET TITLE CHASE WITH SALEM WIN

Jerry Coons, Jr. has thrust himself into title contention in
the 2005 USAC National Midget Series following his 30-lap victory at the
Salem (Ind.) Speedway Saturday night. The 2005 "Belleville Midget
Nationals" Champion now trails series point leader Josh Wise by just 58
points with 222 available in three events this week.

"Indiana Midget Week" debuts Thursday night at the
Lawrenceburg Speedway, continues Friday night at Gas City I-69 Speedway and
concludes with Saturday night's 100-lap Clabber Girl "Hut Hundred"
presented by First Financial Bank and the Terre Haute Convention & Visitors
Bureau at the Terre Haute Action Track.

Coons led all 30 laps to win the 46th Jasper Engines &
Transmissions "Joe James/Pat O'Connor Classic" feature at Salem in his
Wilke-Pak Racers Speedway Motors/Team Mopar Beast. Defending race winner
Dave Steele finished second ahead of Bobby Santos III, fast qualifier Aaron
Fike and Cole Carter.

A 30-lap feature cap Thursday and Friday's programs at
Lawrenceburg and Gas City, while Saturday's "Hut Hundred" offers a 33-car,
three-abreast start for its 100-lap main event.

Coons was the fastest qualifier for last year's "Hut Hundred"
but finished 15th, while Wise finished fourth in the 2004 Terre Haute classic.
