ASIMCO Technologies Acquires NVH Concepts L.L.C.
Acquisition will bring NVH solutions and new composite material to global OEMs
BEIJING, Aug. 15 -- ASIMCO Technologies Limited has acquired NVH Concepts L.L.C., a Livonia, Michigan-based company that manufactures bushings, engine mounts and body mounts for the global automotive industry.
The acquisition creates a new business unit, NVH Technologies, which will provide ASIMCO Technologies with additional manufacturing presence in the U.S. and bring new technologies to its customers globally. It also adds product development and manufacturing capability in engine mounts, bushings and other NVH products and a new composite material technology to ASIMCO's growing product portfolio.
"Acquiring NVH Concepts moves ASIMCO forward as we create a global network focusing on global components, modules and systems used in powertrain and chassis sections," said Jack Perkowski, ASIMCO Technologies Chairman and CEO. "Providing new, innovative NVH technologies will help our customers drive down costs and improve quality."
The new strong, lightweight composite material from NVH Concepts is a potential replacement for heavier forged, cast, steel, aluminum or magnesium materials used to produce structural components. ASIMCO NVH Technologies, Inc. (formerly NVH Concepts L.L.C.) is currently working on programs with several U.S. OEMs to use the composite material and plans are underway to introduce its capabilities to automakers in China.
"There is significant opportunity for NVH products in China and ASIMCO Technologies is ideally positioned to provide NVH solutions to China's OEMs," said Scott A. Wellman, founder of NVH Concepts. Wellman, who has more than 20 years of experience in NVH and modeled rubber products, has joined ASIMCO Technologies as Corporate Vice President and head of the new NVH Technologies business unit. That business unit now includes ASIMCO Technologies' molded rubber facilities in Ningguo and Wuhu in China's Anhui Province, as well as the NVH Concepts facility in Michigan.
"ASIMCO Technologies is dedicated to being recognized as the global leader in all of our products," said Perkowski. "The addition of Scott Wellman to our senior management team and the acquisition of NVH Concepts represent the initial steps toward our goal of achieving global leadership in NVH products."
NVH products, which improve vehicle quality, performance and comfort by reducing noise, vibration and harshness in the functioning of the powertrain and chassis, are typically high value-added products, which use rubber-to- metal bonding technologies. While ASIMCO Technologies will continue to manufacture a wide range of other molded rubber products, the NVH products represent a core area of development and fit with ASIMCO Technologies' overall focus on powertrain and chassis and also utilize its casting, stamping, machining and assembly capabilities.
