WHELDON FINISHES THIRD AT KENTUCKY IN KLEIN TOOLS/JIM BEAM CAR

INCREASES CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD TO 90 POINTS

SPARTA, Ky. (Aug. 14, 2005) - Klein Tools/Jim Beam driver Dan Wheldon scored a third-place finish
and drove his lead in the Indy Racing LeagueŽ IndyCarŽ Series championship to 90 points at Sunday's running
of the AMBER Alert Portal Indy 300 at Kentucky Speedway. Only Sam Hornish Jr. is within 100 points of
Wheldon with five races remaining in the IndyCar Series season.
In typical Wheldon fashion, he wasted no time finding his way to the front of the field where he would
stay for the entire race. On his way to leading the most laps, Wheldon never ran lower than third place during
the 200-lap event.
Scott Sharp won his first race of the season and Vitor Meira finished second. They were followed
across the line by Wheldon, Alex Barron and Helio Castroneves.
The IndyCar Series schedule resumes Sunday, Aug. 21, from Pikes Peak International Raceway. ABC
will provide live coverage of the Honda Indy 225 beginning at 3:30 p.m. (EDT).

Dan Wheldon, #26 Klein Tools/Jim Beam Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"It was a good result for the Klein Tools/Jim Beam team. It's a real shame for my three teammates who
did not finish. I felt alone out there and it was certainly disappointing. Everybody did a good job today, we just
came up a little short, but nonetheless, everyone should be commended for the job they did. From a
championship standpoint, it doesn't look too bad."

John Anderson, Team Manager, #26 Klein Tools/Jim Beam Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"We were up there contending for the win, but it just wasn't to be. It was so difficult up there on the high
line, as Vitor (Meira) showed. It was disappointing for Dan. We had high hopes for the Klein Tools/Jim Beam car
today and we had a pretty good car. We just couldn't get in the draft and pull up on them there at the end."
