Cruz Pedregon Qualifies Seventh
Advance Auto Parts Earns Top Half Qualifier

BRAINERD, Minn. (August 13, 2005) - Cruz Pedregon, driver of the Advance
Auto Parts Nitro Funny Car, manuevered to the seventh position to close out
qualifying for this weekendıs NHRA National Event at Brainerd International
Raceway. 

Pedregon lapped the Brainerd quarter mile in 4.784 seconds at 323.04 mph,
which sets up a first round match up with Robert Hight. The Chino Hills,
Calif., resident talked about what he expects for tomorrowıs eliminations.

³We have a tough opponent for tomorrow,² Pedregon said. ³But the Advance
Auto Parts car will be at its best. We qualified in the top half of the
field and had three very good passes. If Sundayıs conditions stay the same,
we will have to be in 4.70s to win same we have been able to do during
qualifying.²

During Sundayıs first round of eliminations, Pedregon will face qualifier
No.10 Robert Hight who clocked a 4.813 seconds pass.
