KLAUS GRAF WINS THE CYTOMAX SPORT DRINK 100

DENVER, Col. (August 13, 2005) After two consecutive near misses, Klaus Graf, drove the No. 7 Jaguar R Performance XKR to victory in Denver. Winning the Cytomax Sport Drink 100, the now two-time winner moved within one point of Randy Ruhlman for the 2005 Trans-Am Championship. Tomy Drissi crossed the finish line second in the No. 5 Four Brothers the Movie Jaguar after battling the eventual fourth place finisher, Paul Gentilozzi for second most of the day.

Starting from the pole, Graf ran a perfect race leading wire-to-wire around the nine turn circuit. Capitalizing on points, the championship contender earned 30 points for the win and a bonus point each for leading a lap and leading the most laps in the 61 lap event. Today’s victory is Rocketsports 55th Trans-Am win and Jaguar’s 45th. “It is always hard and difficult,” described Graf. “You have to keep concentrating. I would push it for a while then I would slowed down a little bit then I pushed again because I was trying to get the fastest lap too. I didn’t actually, Paul got it. It was easy to control the race but it is easy to make a mistake so you have to keep the concentration level up. Today I didn’t make one mistake.”

Picking up where he left off last year, Drissi, never ran lower than third. The Rockin’ Moroccan challenged Rocketsports team owner, Gentilozzi several times finishing second and earning his third podium of the year. “In the last couple races something has changed in me and my experience,” said Drissi. “I kept concentrating on doing something better and better each lap. There was a couple of time when it was getting pretty exciting, but you have to stop and tell yourself it is just another car, otherwise it’s your boss or the guy who taught you how to do things or a four-time champion. You have to put that away and say it’s just another car and start running with it.”

Four-time champion, Gentilozzi took the green flag from fifth and quickly moved to second only to be challenged by Drissi and 1978 champion, Greg Pickett. A late race encounter with a slower car forced the Michigan native into the run off area and relinquished him to his fourth place finish. “We had a good race today and had fun being challenged by Drissi and Pickett,” said Gentilozzi. “Late in the race Drissi and I were going at it pretty hard when we came up on a slower car and it took my line away. I had no where to go but the run off. It’s great that Klaus got another win, it move him way up in the points and helps Jaguar in the championship.”
