SSP Racing Postponed on Thursday Night


Newberrytown, PA  (August  11, 2005) -  Just as all divisions completed their 
practice sessions, a severe thunderstorm  dumped large amounts of rain on the 
speedway forcing officials to postpone all  divisions until the next two 
races.  The Topless Late Models have been added to the events scheduled for  
Sunday, August 14 with Camera and  Autograph Night featuring the Trail Motors Super 
 Sportsman, Street Stocks, Four Cylinders and Road Warriors.  All fans will 
have the  opportunity to meet their favorite drivers with their cars on the 
frontstretch  before the feature events.   The EMMR Vintage Cars are also invited 
back for an exhibition on Sunday  night.  If needed, a rain date will  be 
announced for this event.   
The new format  for the events on Sunday, August 14, will be qualifying races 
and 20-lap  features for the Topless Late Models and Trail Motors Super 
Sportsman.  The Street Stocks and Four Cylinders  will compete in 25-lap features 
with no qualifying events.  Feature lineups for the Street Stocks  will be 
aligned by handicapping; Four Cylinders will draw for starting  positions. 
The  racing events scheduled for Sunday night, August 7 were postponed as 
well until  Sunday night, August 14 due to a late afternoon thunderstorm.  All 
pit passes and grandstand tickets  purchased on Thursday, August 11 may be 
exchanged for admission to the next two  racing events on August 14 and August 18.  
 
Gates  open in the pit area and grandstands at 5:00  p.m.   Warm-ups begin at 
7:00  p.m.  with racing beginning promptly at 7:30  p.m.  Grandstand ticket  
prices are Adults (18 & older) $12.00; Teens (13-17) $8.00; Children (6-12)  
$4.00; and Children (5 & under) are free.  SSP  will continue its Repeat Fan 
Discount in which there will be a $2.00 discount for each person on  August 14 
with a ticket stub from the July 24 or August 4 events only.  Returning fans 
are encouraged to write their name, address  and phone number on the back of the 
stub to be entered into special drawings  during the season for great prizes. 
 Last season, the grand prize was two tickets for the October NASCAR race  at 
the Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte, North  Carolina.  Pit pass prices are 
$20.00 with a  reduced price of $18.00 for all track licensee holders. 
The  Sprint Cars return to SSP on Thursday night, August 18 with Camera and 
Autograph  night. Also racing will be the Xtreme Stock Cars, XSC Rookie Rumble, 
Legends  Cars and a Mini Van Construction Race.   The Women on Wheels Stocks 
will  also be added to the Thursday night program after being postponed from 
August  11.  All fans will have the  opportunity to meet their favorite drivers 
with their cars on the frontstretch  before the feature events.  If  needed, 
a rain date will be announced for this event.

SSP  News and Notes: 
-  The Super Sportsman at SSP culminates with the Inaugural 75-lap Trail 
Motors  Championship on Sunday, September 4, paying $2,500 to the winner.  For the 
championship race, there will be  12 automatic qualifiers for the event 
determined by the winners of the following  events: 1) Silver Spring (Sat., May 28 –
 Craig Morrow); 2) SSP (Sun., May 29 –  Russ Mitten); 3) SSP (Sun., June 5 – 
 Dave Calaman); 4) Port Royal (Wed., June 15  - Pat Cannon); 5) SSP (Sun., 
June  19 – Rich Eichelberger); 6) Williams Grove (Fri., June 24 – Danny  
Hager); 7) Silver Spring (Sat., July 2 – Billy Schoffstall); 8) SSP  (Sun., July 3 –
 Frankie Herr); 9) Lincoln (Wed., July 20 – Carmen  Perigo Jr.); 10) SSP 
(Sun., July 24 – Gregg Foster); 11) SSP (Sun.,  Aug. 7); 12) SSP (Sun., Aug. 21).  
The remainder of the field for the championship will qualify through  heats 
and a last chance race.  All  Trail Motors Super Sportsman Series events at SSP 
will require the use of  Hoosier Tires on all four corners with a Hoosier 
105/18-15 plated (HTMA or HTE)  right rear spec tire.
