USAC FORD FOCUS NATIONALS FIELD SELECTED
INDIANAPOLIS – Drivers seeking their opportunity to compete for the USAC
National Ford Focus Midget Car Series championship have been issued
invitations, according to USAC.
The Top 8 points scorers in six of USAC’s different regions through July 18
have earned the right to compete in the championship, a two-day show
scheduled for Sept. 17-18 in Lima, Ohio and Anderson, Ind. Wild card and
past champion invitations have also been issued, bringing the total number
of cars expected to compete to 55.
Tate Martz of Rushville, Ind. (Midwest); Chase Scott of Concord, N.C.
(Carolina/Virgina); Michael Sboro of Watertown, N.Y. (Northeast); Jasiel
Randolph of Tulsa, Okla. (Oklahoma); Alex Harris of Simi Valley, Calif.
(California Paved) and Chase Barber of Morgan Hill, Calif. (California Dirt)
were the respective points leaders as of July 18. Sboro is included among
the Carolina/Virginia region’s invitees as he is licensed in that region.
“The USAC Ford Focus National Championship is the end result of three years
of hard work by USAC and Ford Racing,” said Eric Bunn, the National
Coordinator of USAC Ford Focus Midget racing. “At the end of the day on
Sept. 18 at Anderson Speedway, the racing world will know who is the best of
the best in a Ford Focus Midget.”
USAC Ford Focus Midget Car Series racing came into existence in 2002 as six
cars lined up to take the green flag for a race in Bakersfield, Calif. Since
then, nearly 200 races around the country have been conducted with over 150
drivers having competed in such events.
“Helping these aspiring, talented USAC Ford Focus Midget drivers realize
their dream is what this National Championship is all about,” said Dan
Davis, director of Ford Racing Technology. “This event will bring the
best-of-the-best together for two days of very competitive, hard fought
competition with one driver coming out on top.”
